Usman Syed, the camera-wielding dynamo hailing from Omaha, is a force to be reckoned with in the world of videography. Standing tall at a mighty 5’7″ (or as he likes to say, “average with a sprinkle of awesome”), Usman proves that height is no measure of talent when it comes to capturing life’s most memorable moments.
As a Millard North High School graduate, Usman’s dreams of becoming a basketball superstar hit a slight snag. Let’s just say he stopped growing, but his passion for the game didn’t. Determined to find a way to stay connected to the court, he picked up a camera, behind his admiration for his late grandfather who was obsessed with photography, he believed it was the next best thing to sinking three-pointers. Who needs height when you have the power to freeze a dunk in mid-air?
Now, as he embarks on his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Usman is ready to make his mark in the film industry. Armed with a camera, a razor-sharp wit, and a dash of self-deprecating humor (because let’s face it, being short is just too easy a target), he’s set to capture hearts and laughter with his unique blend of storytelling and comedy.
Usman is also a producer for women’s hockey at the university, a job he has quickly learned to love. So if from the sidelines of women’s hockey games to the creative depths of his first short film production, Usman’s journey is a testament to his indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication. With Usman behind the lens, there’s no telling where his camera will take us, but one thing’s for sure: laughter and unforgettable moments await.
