AEF Basketball Rebrand Story
When a brand dominates the local scene and starts earning regional—and even national—buzz, it eventually outgrows its old look. That’s exactly where AEF Basketball found themselves.
Originally founded under the name AEF Academy, the program was inspired by powerhouse institutions like IMG Academy, with a shield-style logo to reflect that elite, scholastic feel. But after years of success, explosive growth, and cultural impact, it became clear: it was time for a change.
AEF—short for Attitude, Effort, and Faith—had matured into a defining force in youth basketball. With a presence felt not only across Omaha but throughout the Midwest and beyond, their players weren’t just showing up. They were setting the tone.
“You knew who AEF was the second they walked in the gym,” said Isaac Simpson, Director of Operations. “But now, we needed our look to match who we’d become.”
So, why did AEF need to rebrand? Let's dive in!
Why AEF Basketball Needed to Rebrand

For Simpson, a former standout college basketball player who turned down overseas opportunities to pour his passion into developing youth, the decision wasn’t about ego. It was about clarity, culture, and calling.
“The kids and families believed in our program. But the brand? That needed to catch up,” Simpson explained. “This rebrand wasn’t just aesthetic—it was strategic.”
The change from Academy to Basketball reflected AEF’s evolving identity: still rooted in education, but laser-focused on competitive excellence and faith-based leadership.
The 316 Strategy Group Effect

When it came to finding the right creative partner, the AEF team turned to 316 Strategy Group—Omaha’s award-winning branding and logo design agency known for crafting bold, meaningful identities.
“This wasn’t just about creating a logo,” said Joseph Kenney, Founder of 316 Strategy Group. “It was about designing a brand that could carry the weight of what AEF Basketball represents—on the court, in the community, and across every platform.”
316 Strategy Group approached the project with surgical precision. With input from AEF leadership, player feedback, and deep market research, they began sculpting a new look that was sleek, modern, and instantly iconic.
Crafting the Look: Grit Meets Grace

The design team’s notes were meticulous. One key update came from a lead graphic designer who adjusted the typography for better athletic flow:
“The font they chose was strong, but slightly off. I reduced the height, tightened spacing, and refined the angles so the letters flow better. It’s compact, confident, and clean.”
The Basketball subtext was also repositioned to balance the visual weight, creating a more unified composition—exactly what a competitive youth brand needs to be memorable and impactful.
The Color Shift: Bold. Purposeful. Elevated.

Gone were the dated tones. In their place, a modern palette—chosen not just for style, but psychology. The new colors command attention on merch, elevate visuals on social media, and reflect AEF’s spiritual grounding.
The Social Media Impact

The new AEF Basketball logo wasn’t just built to look good on jerseys — it was designed to dominate digital platforms. In today’s attention economy, where first impressions are made in milliseconds through Instagram posts, TikTok highlights, and livestream overlays, visual identity is everything. For an elite youth basketball organization like AEF, the logo had to punch through the noise — clean, sharp, and unforgettable.
The transition to a bold, minimalist wordmark paid off immediately. The modern typography and athletic design language made the new identity instantly adaptable to content creation, helping coaches, players, and fans proudly rep the brand both online and off.
“The second we revealed the logo, engagement exploded,” shared Bailey Quarles, Director of Social Media. “People felt the difference. This logo was built to go viral — and it did.”
From profile pics to pre-game graphics and recruiting videos, the new AEF look gave the organization a media-ready presence that matched their on-court dominance.
Beyond the Court: A Cultural Movement
AEF Basketball’s rebrand isn’t just a new look—it’s a reflection of a deeper shift in how the organization sees itself and how it wants to be seen by the world. This transformation represents more than design; it marks a renewed commitment to its mission of building character, leadership, and faith through sport.
“What 316 Strategy Group gave us wasn’t just a logo,” Simpson said. “It was a reset. A new chapter for AEF Basketball that honors our faith and our fight.”
Today, the logo sits proudly on jerseys, hoodies, banners, and digital billboards. But more importantly, it lives in the hearts of athletes being taught that greatness isn’t just about stats—it’s about Attitude. Effort. Faith.
Built to Lead

With a logo that inspires, a name that aligns, and a partner like 316 Strategy Group driving the vision forward, AEF Basketball has not only evolved. It has arrived.
AEF Basketball isn’t just another program—it’s a movement. A lifestyle. A legacy in the making.
